How do I get to the Australian Drinks Festival?
The Royal Exhibition Building is located on Nicholson Street in Carlton Gardens, next to Melbourne Museum. It’s a short distance north of Melbourne’s CBD. A map, directions and more information on public transport can be found here.
Is there parking nearby?
The Melbourne Museum undercover car park is open from 6am to midnight. Enter via Rathdowne Street or Nicholson Street.
What are the festival’s opening times?
On Saturday 16th July 2016, the show’s hours are 12pm-7pm.
On Sunday 17th July 2016, the show’s hours are 12pm-6pm.
How much are tickets?
Early bird tickets (purchased before 16 June 2016) are $45. Regular tickets are $50. You can buy advance tickets from April 2016.
Are all the drinks free inside the festival?
You will be able to sample many of the world’s finest drinks for free at the Australian Drinks Festival but you will have to pay for whole glasses of beer and wine and for longer mixed drinks. Some exhibitors will be selling whole bottles for off-premise consumption too. Free water will be available. Please note this is now a ‘cashless’ festival. In other words, to buy food and drinks at the event you’ll need festival currency. You can buy festival currency at the event or in advance when you purchase tickets.
Will food be available at the festival?
There will be a range of food outlets at the festival, selling everything from snacks and deli items to heartier lunch meals. Coffee and soft drinks will also be available to buy.
Can I use cash to pay for food and drinks?
The Australian Drinks Festival is a ‘cashless’ festival. In other words, to buy food and drinks at the event you’ll need festival currency. You can buy festival currency at the event or in advance when you purchase tickets. However, remember that many of the products available at the event can still be sampled for free.
Can I get a refund on any festival currency I don’t spend at the event?
Yes, you can get a refund at the box office during festival hours on the day for which your ticket is valid. Unfortunately, we can’t give refunds after the festival has closed. The refund process is seamless; Simply head to a refund counter, scan your wristband and your balance will be immediately refunded to you.
How do I top up the festival currency on my wristband?
If you wish to make purchases greater than the balance on your wristband, there are friendly “Top-Up” staff located around the venue that can process with ease additional currency top-ups directly onto your wristband.
Is there a cloakroom to leave coats and bags?
Unfortunately, there’s no cloakroom facility at the Royal Exhibition Building.
